Dates: December 7-14, 2026
Group size: 10 participants
Focus: Immersive painting time & intentional connection
Outcome: A renewed way of seeing and creating through connection to people, place, and experience
Culebra is a quiet island sanctuary where turquoise waters, protected reefs, and sea turtles share space with silence and sky, Its unhurried rhythm and untouched beauty create a rare setting for reflection, connection, and focused creative work - both on land and in the water.
Swim & Paint: From Ocean to Canvas
On select days, we begin in the water. Participants are encouraged to spend time swimming, observing marine life, light movement, color shifts, and rhythm before making any decisions about what they want to paint. This time is intentionally unhurried. The goal is not to document what you see, but to notice what stays with you after you leave the water.
Weather permitting, we will Swim with turtles on one of our days at Tamarindo Beach, a premier spot where they graze in the seagrass just off the shore.
Vibrant marine life and rays as well as the turtles are often spotted in the calm waters of the Luis Pena Natural Reserve.
"You don't need to decide what you're painting this day until you've spent time in the water. Swim, observe, and notice what holds your attention. When your're ready, we'll begin."
"Move slowly. Let the water reveal itself. Notice color, movement, and rhythm before thinking about composition. The subject will make itself known."
