Craig Richards is an award-winning plein air painter known for his deep sensitivity to light, structure, and atmosphere. His work reflects years of dedicated practice painting directly in natural environments.
As a founding member and former President of Triad Outdoor Painters for over 15 years, Craig has helped shape a thriving community of artists while refining a teaching approach rooted in observation, clarity, and confident technique.
During the retreat, he will provide demonstrations, individual guidance, and thoughtful feedback, supporting each participant in developing both technical skill and personal artistic direction.
This retreat is more than a workshop- it's a place for artists to gather, create, and share meaningful experiences in an unforgettable setting. Surrounded by the natural beauty of Puerto Rico, you'll paint alongside fellow artists while building lasting friendships through storytelling, exploration, observation, and shared creative practice.
The Wild Canvas Retreat was created by Julian Hope as a space for artists to slow down, reconnect with observation, and work in beautiful natural environments.
Julian is a storytelling artist deeply influenced by light, atmosphere, and the emotional language of painting. Her vision for The Wild Canvas is to create intimate retreats where artists can focus deeply, feel supported, and return home with renewed clarity in their work.
Julian hosts each retreat personally, ensuring a thoughtful, welcoming, and creatively nourishing experience for every participant.
During daily painting activities, Julian will be present to provide support as needed and help ensure participants feel at ease and able to focus on their creative experience.
Spaces are limited to maintain an intimate and focused experience.
